Jean-Baptiste Jean
Jean-Baptiste Jean was born in 1953 in Cap-Haitian and began to paint in 1972 as
a student of Philome Obin. (In the first painting below, Jean-Baptiste
Jean is seated at an easel with Philome Obin standing next to him, providing
guidance.) He also studied at the Centre d'Art in Port-au-Prince,
formally joining the Centre in 1973. He is known as a Third Generation
Master of the Northern School.
Jean-Baptiste Jean died in 2005.
